About

Key People

My name is Julie Hardaker and I am the Chair Person for Methley & Mickletown Residents Association.

I took up the position in July 2017 to save the association from disbanding, and fully enjoy working with other members, and volunteers.

For the past 24 years Methley has been my home, and I can not see myself living anywhere else.

My previous background was mainly in Logistics.

Gillian Brennan, retired.
MMRA Secretary

Previously worked at PWC accountants for 23 years specialising in Insolvency and later for award Hadaway Solicitors.

Moved to Methley village in 2000 and joined the MMRA committee in 2017.

Methley and Mickletown Residents Association was formed many years ago to deal with local issues in and around the village. All our members past and present are volunteers and have kindly given up a considerable amount of their time for the benefit of the village over numerous years. We work with our local Councillors and Police who are often in attendance at our meetings. We are available to all residents for whatever concerns they may have.
  • The Residents Association managed to secure the first defibrillator in the village in July 2019, and since that date it has played a major part in looking after residents' health.
  • The organisation of the Christmas lights switch on was undertaken in 2022, and has proved to be a great success, becoming an annual event.
  • When the original Methley in Bloom members decided to retire after many wonderful years the association helped find new members to carry on the work, and also organised funding and a thank you party.
  • Yes we do deal with dog poo, street lights etc and the dreaded pot holes, but as demonstrated above we are open to taking on all challenges affecting our area no matter how small or large; your concerns are our concerns.
We are now facing a massive challenge ahead, with the proposed Sand and Gravel Quarry on our doorsteps. but with the help and enthusiasm of our residents we are sure that the fantastic community of Methley and Mickletown will do all they can to STOP the quarry going ahead and we will be here leading the campaign.
We still need many more people to support our objection to the quarry. This can be by signing up to receive the newsletter or by volunteering in a practical way - joining a focus group, delivering leaflets, fund raising, spreading the word.
